Sinemia Two movie tickets a month including IMAX/3D $8.99

sinemia is offering a discount on their monthly plan as low as $8.99 for two tickets a month including IMAX and 3D. Can also book in advance using fandango.
For less frequent movie goers like me this seems like a great alternative to Moviepass. Would love to hear from existing sinemia members.

$8.99 is the rate if you bill annually ( $ 107.88 Annual Commitment )
10.99 if you do no commitment.

Although you can do 2 premium movies, the catch it that you can only watch each over every 30 days apart. So if you buy one day 1, watch on Day 3 and Day 4, you will get billed at day 30, but you can not watch another movie until Day 33 and Day 34. This was my understanding of their 30 day rule in their TOS.

Where as Movie pass it is one non premium movie a day, once a day for 9.99 no commitment.

I have been considering Sinemia too given that I have only been watching 1-2 movies a month on Moviepass, but I am skeptical on the 30 day.

EDIT: I got curious enough to send in a message to their CS. I will update when I hear back on their 30 day rule.

I might do this. IMAX and Dolby Cinema (AMC) are always my first option when watching movies and this might just pay for itself easily due to the cost of the IMAX tickets. Even though I already have Moviepass, this might still be worth it. Have to think about it and do some math.

Thanks OP. I joined. The ticket price for my local giant screen IMAX is around $22. That means by watching 5 IMAX movies, the price of this subscription is covered.

Sinemia being sued by Moviepass for parent infringement. I would hold off any extended membership if you go with Sinema. Btw, I love my MoviePass

this seems to be a better deal than moviepass if you generally only see one or two movies a month

- 16.99 2 movies days for 2 (4 tickets total, although you have to buy both together)
- allows you to purchase tickets online (this is pretty big for me, since one of the inconvenience of movie pass is having to go to the movie theater to purchase the ticket, a few times, the movie is already sold out. I also like to reserve my seats ahead of time at AMC and show up right before the movie starts, but you can't do that with moviepass)
- also allows you to purchase one of the more expensive screenings (imax, dolby atmos). I don't think you can do this with moviepass, it only works for 2d regular movies.

thoughts?

Reminder that it is only 1 premium format movie per month. In their FAQs -

"IMAX, IMAX 3D, XD, Dolby Atmos, ScreenX, Dbox, and 4DX are the Premium formats that can be seen once every 30 days"

I got the couples deal back in Dec. I chose this over moviepass because of the premium movie option. 3D and imax is what I mostly use it for anyway.

Jumped in - two movies/month for two people for me in NY, NY is $16.99, which is less than a single 3D/IMAX ticket. I only go to see movies 3-4x a year anyways, so this deal costs about what I already pay and will encourage me to go more!

Reserve seating and premium upgrades, yea I'd rather have this over MP. Should be two in a calendar month though.

I did this last year. I'm in NYC and I think mine was $12 for two tickets per month. I didn't even use both tickets every month, but did make sure to get at least one 4DX or IMAX ticket every month (which can be as much as $30). I wish I had opted to bill annually, because after 3 months the promotional rate expired and my subscription went up to $25/month for two tickets. I wasn't even notified of the rate change, and my credit card wasn't automatically charged (thankfully). I think the service simply didn't want me as a member anymore since I was ordering $30 tickets.
I'll also add that customer service was very slow while I was a member, and the app is a mess.

I had a bad customer service experience with sinemia attempting to get a refund for a movie I couldn't make it to--took forever for a response and to get my ticket back was too much work.

I then wanted to switch to a non commitment service (was on 1-yr) after changing my mind not even a day later (and they wouldn't put me on the promo rate either) Took over a month to get my money back before I considered a chargeback and they just canceled my subscription altogether and I missed Justice League IMAX this last year and couldn't see Thor or Star Wars either for the price like I was hoping at the time.

So I guess I can't say I actually watched a movie through their service but I would suggest being more careful when choosing movies through their service or you may experience a lengthy process. I do think the premium prices are great if you can work through the 1 per month grind.

-A happily bewedded moviepasser

tempted to do this as well

have movie pass for maybe 2 months now
(costco 1 pay @ $90 x 2 tickets)

but MP removed the amc mercado in santa clara, ca which was my theater of choice
if do this ...i would probably go with the single no commitment $11 per month 2 movies

what was the couples deal back in dec?

these movie deals are aggravating me...no time to watch...but cant pass on the deal
