This is a great price for a monitor that supports 4k signal. I use mine mainly with my A6500 attached to my gimbal.

But what's the point if display can support only 1920 pixels? Will the video not be downgraded by four times? It may just look sharper.

I'm not sure there is much difference between 4k and hd on a 5 inch screen

350ppi at one foot of distance is about the maximum of what a normal eye can see. 1920x1080 at 5", gives it 443 ppi, so nobody should be able to discern its pixels without additional optics.

Think about it like this, if you have a 4K source would you prefer to see it at 1080p or not at all? That's why 4K support is nice.

At least on the a6500, I believe you can't shoot in XAVC 4k and output to an external monitor that doesn't support a 4k signal, you'll just get a black screen.

The compatibility is critical in my setup where I have to go through a menu option and accept a black screen because my inline monitor won't handle 4k.

Still too pricey for anyone beyond enthusiasts, but definitely killer for the right application.

Good luck!

There are much cheaper alternatives for that. Usually around $100 instead. And you'll get more screen space, around 7 to 8" instead of 5"

Not sure why this is so expensive....

Because this monitor isn't made for what he wants to do. He can use it for that but he's spending more than he needs. This monitor is for photography or videography.

I don't really need it to watch it in 4k while I'm shooting. Having a larger screen while still being a small manageable size for my gimbal it works pretty well for me. Plus it has other features that help exposure like peaking and false colors.

I understand and agree with that. I would buy this for other features but not for its 4k support.
