This is for turkey jerky and not beef. Worked out to be $2.40 a bag or $1.09/ounce. A lot better than $6.99 a bag price tag at Whole Foods and great deal for a no preservative, premium cut jerky.

(Long story, went to Whole Foods, they had $5 off $15 promo for Perky Jerky and I wanted some after trying the sample and seeing the bag on sale at $4.99. The cashier even let me have $5 off $14.97 and I thought I had a great deal... turns out Amazon is still better!)

Reviews are a hit or miss. I'm wondering if these are near expiry as some reviews are saying that the meat is tough. To offer a $20 coupon on a $48 food product seems a bit suspect. Just saying...

Most jerky is hard as a rock or tough as leather. Then came chicken jerky tender and it was soft but had slightly more fat. Then came turkey and beef jerky tenders from same maker. Just as soft. Then came other brands with normal hard turkey jerky. That soft stuff was a fleeting dream.

I read some of the more recent reviews about the product in the OP, and it seems it depends on the batch you get, could be great, could be crap. Too much of a gamble for me, so i'll stick to Lorissa's Kitchen Korean BBQ Pork Jerky from Sams Club and I think Costco

Bought some of this recently at Costco and will NEVER buy again.
  • It is really 'wet', probably makes it 'weigh heavier'.
  • tough and stringy
  • Bland taste
  • not surprised it gets mixed reviews

Tried from Costco, when it was on sale. I liked it, for it being turkey.

Some brands make turkey jerky look like cadaver muscle meat, that I recall from schooling, and I'm not eating that.

Also got this at Costco recently and I liked it so much I got another bag. Both were super-tender, not at all stringy, and tasted great, if just a wee bit too much brown sugar for my taste (but probably just right for most people). The person above probably got a bad batch and should just return it for full refund, or exchange to give it another shot (open the second bag before you leave in case you want to return it too).

I've bought from Amazon and Costco. Same kind both times, but the ones from Costco were awful in comparison. Tough, and very small pieces. The bag from Costco was very tender with large pieces.

Not sure about the turkey variety of perky jerky, But we got a dozen bags of the beef variety on clearance from our local supermarket and it's easily the best beef jerky we've ever had. For folks that have TMJ or jaw issues, this jerky is your friend - very tender.

It's tough to expect every single piece of jerky to be incredibly soft and tender, but the toughest piece I encountered in all those bags was way softer than most jerky I've tried. I imagine the reason it's more moist is due to the softness.

100% would buy again. FYI - the Teriyaki flavor was better than the original flavor, IMO.

Costco sells an original Perky Jerky 14er (14 oz) bag for $13.79. It was $10 on sale the last month. I love the stuff. It seems this Amazon deal is an okay deal if you like the other flavors. The other flavors aren't available at Costco.
