I guess in today's world we are no longer allowed to question fraudulent charges on our cc. And it wasn't even a renewal, my account was magically upgraded to a plan with a monthly fee. It was for the longest time under the free plan....

unauthorized charge to my cc

Freedompop is one big scam anyhow. Slickdeals is in bed with them, so what's that tell you.

What did they say when you contacted them about the charge prior to chargeback?

Funny thing was they acknowledged the mistake and reversed the charge. But by then I already flagged the charge as fraudulent since I saw the charge first on my cc, that is what made me login and asked them to reverse the charges. But after reversing the charges they cancelled my account a few days later because of the chargeback, which I had to do because they charged my and upgraded my account with no notice or authorization.

Billing error = their fault.
You not contacting them before chargeback = your fault.

You didn't live up to your end, they banned you.

And there it is... chargeback before even trying to work it out which is against the terms you signed up for. Chargebacks cost them money even if reversed afterwards. Lesson for everyone here: contact the FP rep here before any chargeback IF you want to keep your account. Lucky they don't send you to collections too, which they are known to do without hesitation.

LOL...better than Newegg. Newegg will ban you even though it is their fault AND outright refuses to refund,

This would appear to be a quicker method than calling their customer service and canceling things correctly
