I was 13 when this aired and it was a big hit back then. The Munsters was on TV that year also.

Got to have dinner with John Astin a few years ago. Wonderful man and fine actor. Has headed the theater program at Johns Hopkins for years.
Am old enough to have been a fan of the original series.

Well before my time, but I still grew up watching this and The Munsters, thanks to syndication on a local station and Nick-at-Nite.

Ah the memories of watching late-night classic TV with grams... thx, OP. =)

I often confuse The Addams Family with The Munsters. They both aired for two seasons from 1964 to 1966.

Lots of people do. I love them both, but, objectively, The Addams Family was the superior show. It had an intelligence and subversiveness that The Munsters didn't. The Munsters was a far more generic sitcom overall.

But The Munsters had Grandpa Al Lewis, who was a HARDCORE subversive in real life... which is what made him awesome. I miss that guy so much. His Howard Stern appearances and Pacifica shows were legendary.
