Petsmart has the Top Fin "Retreat" 5 gallon rimless glass aquarium on sale for $34.99 (regularly $49.99):

An additional 25% off with coupon below = $26.24:

YMMV somewhat in that you'll need to have them price match their web site before applying the coupon but generally not a problem at Petsmart. Don't think that the coupon code is unique but to be sure you can get one directly from Petsmart by texting "fish" (no quotes) to 84848. Good through 3/4/18.

Would be a GREAT deal if you can swing another $10 off with the Petsmart coupon here (didn't try it since I'd already used it the other day):

Basically it's a similar cheaper version of the Fluval Spec V. The filter set up isn't great but can be improved with bio media, etc. Filter and light both use a common power adapter so you can't, for example, put the light on a timer. Even if you did put it on an adapter of its own the light does not retain last on/off setting. Light is either on or off with no high/low or night mode. Output is pretty good at PAR of 33 to bottom of tank. Contrary to one review that I saw, the pump output is adjustable on the one that I got. More cube shaped (14"x9"x9") than the Fluval. Silicone work isn't ADA perfect on mine but not bad at all. Overall a decent little rimless tank if you accept it for what it is.

Smaller tanks like this need more frequent changes. Also depends on bioload/fish in tank Minimum I would say weekly do a 20% change. But it's also easier since a small bucket can do it

Depends on stocking, feeding, how heavily planted, etc. Typically about 25% weekly once it's up and running as general guidance. Easy to do on a small tank like this. On the other side of that smaller tanks are somewhat harder to maintain in that you don't have as much room for error/buffering/etc. with a smaller amount of water.

I love rimless tanks, and this is like a cheaper Mr. Aqua rimless. This would be perfect for some cherry shrimp and live plants. I have enough tanks empty in the garage but I might have to pick this up...I miss having a fish tank up and running. Thanks for the post!

Way too small IMO. Would recommend at least a 10-20 gal depending on what kind of fish you keep.

It's a slick deal for sure if you use both the $10 off and 25% coupon. Some people in a fish group I'm in on Facebook we're able to use both

My local PetSmart showed limited quantities, but I drive by it on the way home so stopped. As I had asked above, I was thinking about using it for quarantine purposes; I have smaller fish - guppies, platties; neons, swords, etc. I figured if I could stack the coupons I'd buy it.

No problem price matching; no problem with the 25% off coupon; but when I tried to use the $10 off coupon the guy at the register stepped aside and there was a large sign stating "This coupon will not be accepted". I asked to see the manager who quickly came over; explained that this was a corporate directive to no longer accept, but quickly offered to split the difference and give me $5 off; so It was $21.42 + tax. For that I'll try it.

Can someone explain fish tanks and beginner setups with quality on a budget? Always wanted a tank with some fishes but never had anything other than a goldfish in a bowl when I was a kid (died over vacation). Thanks
