Seems like a great deal but no thunderbolt 3 kills it for me.

I was waiting for the Spectre x360 to go on sale for $1.1K new again, but given this pricing, the refurb 8550U/16/512 build of that machine might be under $1K.

Wow just above my budget but checks all the boxes for me. Might go for it!

Not a deal breaker but anyone know if there's another slot for a HDD?

it's hard to believe they could allow room for hdd expansion in such a small chassis.

It's a 13' so I'm pretty sure it's one m.2 slot.

I did search this out. Just a m.2 slot. I was hoping for memory slots but soldered on. At least this is 16gb.

OEM's get them earlier than we do.
It's also possible that the motherboard is compatible with the newer chips and they threw these in to add value.

XPS is better than in terms of usability. This small laptop gets really warm - hot and does throttle, not sure why. You can use an XPS on your lap and it shouldn't throttle at the same level of this ENVY.

8th Gen CPU laptops have been out for half a year at this point.

Here's a deal from back in September for a laptop with an i5-8250: https://slickdeals.net/f/10604544-hp-envy-x360-15t-15-6-4k-ips-touch-i5-8250u-8gb-ddr4-256gb-pcie-ssd-mx150-4gb-type-c-win10h-975-with-f-s?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

I've been waiting for the XPS 13" i7 8th Gen with 16GB RAM and 512 GB SSD, but never seen one around $849...

Do you guys know what's the warranty on this refurb?

Something I noticed in the Costco thread - this doesn't have hdmi. Instead they used 2 usb-c's. Will just get an adapter, but a little annoying.
