iPod is more of an "MP3 player" and not a Hi-Fi player at all. Other than ALAC and WAV, it does not support any common lossless codecs, let alone DSD (no way to play even 1-bit DSD). The sampling rates that it supports are also poor. I'm not saying iPod is worthless, it's just that it lies in a different category than Hi-Fi players as the ones we are seeing here.

I wanted to love my X5 III or the X7 when i tried it but the terrible software + other little issues ruin it.

yes Android 4.4, since the rockchip is limited to that version...really terrible cpu + bad software + old android = pass

Not really. Onkyo app does it through software decoding and converting to PCM, unlike professional players that use hardware decoding. FYI, there is a quality loss in conversion from DSD to PCM. Sampling wise, with Onkyo app you can go up to 24bit/192kHz, while Fiio's go up to 32bit/768kHz. Moreover, Onkyo app does not support many common formats like APE. So yes Onkyo HF Player app extends the functionality of iPod to some degree, but still nowhere near a professional Hi-Fi player.

Awesome price on the x5 iii. Bought mine a few months back off the bay $10 more. Only a few minor software issues that I don't like. It's not easy to fast forward through songs. And if the player is out of juice and you plug it in then start it, it goes right to the battery charge screen. You need to unplug it, start it, then plug it in. Kind of annoying but I love the sound and storage.

This version of the x7 doesn't come with the standard am1 amp module (not that it's good). Kind of a turnoff at this price.

Keep in mind that it was released more than 2 years ago. I'm sure no one expected any updates, and they were right.

Actually Android 5 is available from fiio for the X7 but it still has too many bugs. If you plan on streaming Tidal or any other streaming service don't get a fiio product. The rockchip is horrible for streaming and you'll have constant stuttering. Fiiio makes great hardware but they need to fire their software engineers and hire someone that knows what they are doing.

Yes, was about to say just that, v20 is a fantastic audio player, drives my Focal Elear and LCD-2 with ease.

Dammm. These things still exist?
They do and many of us use them everyday. I haven't used vinyl in years but I know they exist and the market was is actually growing.
