These laptops are beautiful and well-built. The bezel-less screen and super thin aluminum/carbon fiber case exude quality and really make a big difference in aesthetics. The only real negatives I've heard about them are below average speaker quality and really unfortunate webcam placement (side-effect of having no bezel above the display). I believe you can also add a 2.5" drive if you buy a smaller battery from Dell. Overall one of the best general use/multimedia laptops around, and in an ultraportable form factor. If they made this with a GTX 1060 I would be all over it, but for some reason it's like they don't want to make the perfect laptop...

This seems like a good price for the load out (especially in states with high sales tax), but I can't comment on the seller. I've heard of people having problems with refurbished Dells that just never seem to be able to get fixed 100%, but can't speak to that from personal experience. If you're concerned it might be worth contacting Dell directly to see if this seller is indeed authorized

For $600 more (+ tax) you can buy new with double the RAM, double the SSD size, and get extended warranty through CostCo. Obviously that is a pretty big price increase; might be worth it if you need the increased specs and peace of mind

EDIT: Looks like that deal is dead now actually, but good data point for price comparison

You can add a 2 year protection plan through Squaretrade for $270. Not a great deal, but its there. With that level of investment, the Costco XPS deal becomes a bit more appealing.

I've been shopping for an XPS 15 for the past month now, and this is by far the best deal I was able to come across.

Ah damn. Nothing through Dell directly for extended warranty? (I've contacted the seller as well, just hoping for faster answers)

These are out of stock now. Looks like the seller is selling the same model for $1439 here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-XPS...33e302424d

I was going to ask about this. I just looked at this a few minutes ago and saw that regarding warranty. I'm guessing if I buy this I will only get the remaining time from the original Dell warranty (which could be expired).
This is a great deal if you want the higher end specs (you can get cheaper lower-end XPS 15 refurbs with 1-year warranty from Dell Outlet), but I'm worried about having no warranty and don't want to pay the high prices from a third party.
Anyone have thoughts? Any idea how AmEx or Chase extended warranty would work with something like this?

This is from their Contact Seller page for this item:

What is "manufacturer refurbished" condition?
new.techies : Dell manufacturer refurbished Products were put through refurbishing process to achieve highest quality and performance standards. In some cases units may have some small cosmetic blemishes, which don't affect the performance. All systems come with the same Dell warranty as brand new laptops do. Some Boxes will be opened to check the content

https://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?FindAnswers&redirect=0&iid=232336874946&requested=new.techies

To me this implies that the standard 1-year warranty that Dell refurbs have will also apply to these. What I'm not sure about is if this seller bought the used items from Dell, therefore activating the warranties at some prior time, meaning that some chunk of the warranty is also gone by the time it gets to us. Even so, as long as it still has a somewhat recent warranty then a credit card like AmEx should still have its extended warranty benefit applied (I would think).

I'm on the fence about this. I wanted to get a lower-end XPS 15 if it would hit the <$800 mark after taxes/cash back, but for a few hundred more I could get i7 CPU instead of i5, 16GB RAM instead of 8GB, 512GB SSD instead of 256, and 4k touch instead of 1080p non-touch. A similar spec'd scratch and dent from Dell Outlet would be at least $150 more than this eBay listing after all coupons, cash back and taxes.

I got this exact spec for about this price a year ago from Dell's Outlet.
It's a great machine for Photoshop and Premiere, obviously not as fast as my custom built desktop. I've re-encoded 4k footage, but haven't edited a 4k movie on it. It handles D800 raw files quickly.
I've had art directors, creative directors, social media reps all comment on how good their stuff looks on my screen. Get it, it will pay for itself in work if you have clients looking at the screen.
It's more portable than a gaming machine. I have a client with a Thunderbolt charger that I borrow and can leave my charger at home. I got this for a 2nd screen: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...-_-Product
They work well together for extra real estate, but the colors aren't nearly as good as the Dell.

"Refurbished . item has some blemishes and scratches"
Nah, I'll pass on this one. The 9570 is likely only a few months away. It's getting harder by the week to convince myself to go for the 9560.
