Not a hot deal or anything since it went down to $130ish a bit ago, but for those shopping for a monitor thought I'd share my final pick at around this $150 price point. Has Freesync to 75hz. IPS Panel. Youtube video shows the 75Hz is also available to Nvidia users ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDH6xzYSbQ8 ), so you don't have to do anything weird to force that mode it appears. It was bugging me that the LG in it's class had that burgundy color to the base, as well as bezels that weren't present in the previous year's model, but I digress. There was also a Philips in this price category and price point but had zero reviews or information outside the product page.

No VESA, and allegedly the HDR10 that it claims to support may only be simulated, so there's that. The speaker is apparently very good, and is totally removable away from the stand if you really don't want it. This model without speaker is available at best buy for 149.99 as well. People said in a previous deal comment section that the color was noticeably better than all the other ones around it, so take that with a grain of salt.

Free expedited shipping through adorama for orders over $50. Not a ton of stock on Amazon but has Prime shipping there as well. Newegg Premiere eligible as well. Monitor available at

So yeah, ~150ish for an IPS monitor that is color neutral, has as thin of bezels as you can get today, supports Freesync, has an actually good (and removable) speaker, and goes to 75Hz. Just wanted to share my final choice after reviewing plenty else. Hope the wife will like it with her new desktop build.

Thanks for sharing this deal OP!
Any idea if it supports LFC? From my understanding thats essential for using this monitor in gaming with AMD GPUs...

It's likely the same panel as the LG I alluded to earlier so it's highly probably you can lower the freesync range to 33ish to 75 and lfc will happen. If not, not a huge deal. LFC just doubles the existing frames while keeping them in sync. Without the doubling as long as it's still being kept in sync it looks the same to me. But that's just been my experience with it.

Thanks OP!

One other q re freesync - does it deliver over HDMI? I was assuming you need display port to use freesync (at least adaptive sync)...

Yeah they've started doing Freesync over HDMI. Not sure when they first started but I'm pretty sure it's a part of not only the display port standard but also HDMI. I know Rx 5 series cards can do it and I think 4 series as well. Idk if 3 series or below can.

Is there any difference between this model and the S2418HX (x at the end) that Dell sells?

Well the speakers are sitting on the stand and are totally removable, so at least there's that lol. But yeah, VESA would have been nice. At least there are 25-30 dollar adapters for it but still.

I don't think so. Check freesync functionality on the Dell site but otherwise they seem to be the same. Idk though honestly

I have this monitor. Yes it reaches to 75 hz. LFC doesn't work because freesync range is 48-75Hz. I tried using CRU to change the vertical refresh rate but it doesn't work. The freesync range doesn't go below 48HZ
