I have this and paid a bit more (I think ~75 3 years ago). It works well, but might be small for a family of 4 or bigger.

Got one for $30 as a closeout at target. Works ok but doesn't get everything that smooth.

I have the same experience. Excellent product and MUCH quieter than I expected based on past food processors, but I wish I had gotten the bigger size.

How will this do making pasta dough? Just my wife and I and occasionally some friends. Should I wait for a larger size with more power?

It's fine for the amount of people you are serving. I use mine for pasta dough and I just do them in batches.

Yeah ours is on it's way out. Only works when it wants to now. I would recommend another brand.

Who makes better food processors, in general? Or is this just a particular model that doesn't live up to standards?

Thx.

You're way better off getting a Ninja IMO.

So many 1 star reviews, I'm thinking I might as well save the money and just get a cheapo black and Decker or something if it's gonna break anyway
