At the last, add heavy whipping cream or yogurt to it to give creamy texture. Do not heat for more than a minute or two after adding these.

If you want to cook from scratch, its simple but time consuming dish. It takes me 1 hr to cook. I prefer it with paneer (indian version of cottage cheese) or boiled eggs instead of chicken.


Edit : For chicken, I would suggest you to bake chicken in oven (cook around 80%) and then add it to this curry and cook remaining of chicken in the curry on slow/medium heat.

You can marinate the chicken with yogurt and ginger-garlic paste, salt, lemon. You can skip anything from it if you don't like. You may also add red color to chicken while marinating to give uniform appearance of the dish once you mix chicken with curry.

The last time that I bought this in July, they had changed the packaging (to blue instead of all orange) and upped the sodium considerably - 480mg to 700mg. Think they also lowered the heat with the new version, too.

Thanks OP! This is delicious stuff. Super easy to make and cheaper than buying all of the fresh herbs and spices. Don't forget the naan!

I think these are really good if you saute a few onions before cooking and also add some sugar at the end.

I also add some sour cream, heavy cream, or pain yogurt to reduce the spiciness for my wife.

You can use half the packet and tweak it with additional spices. It is good stuff but does taste saltier than when I first tried it several years ago.
