A good bike for the price IMO

http://www.bikenashbar.com/cyclin...ke-nb-29dm

and on amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

UPDATE: ordered from them via amazon. Don't order from their site, go either amazon or ebay just to be safe. Their customer service apparently is not the best!

Find the bike you want on eBay to save 20% (max $100)!! Nashbar sells many of their bikes on ebay too. Here is their ebay store [ebay.com].

Deal link: eBay.com is Offering 20% Off Purchases $25+ with promo code PSPRING20.

I saved $70 on the bike I was looking at [ebay.com].

Damn, this fits all my needs except for missing the lockout. Going up hills and using this as a commuter would greatly benefit from the lockout feature.

The Suntour fork you get is a single spring and plastic bushings inside instead of metal. For actual trail riding there is no rebound damping so it becomes a pogo stick going over multiple bumps. But fear not. Suntour has an upgrade program if you find you want a real offroad fork. $200 for a Raidon air fork with a sealed compression damper and adjustable rebound damping. The wheel rims are skinny with skinny tires. This is an ok gravel road and bike path bike.

I bought this bike about a month ago for maybe $50 more and absolutely love it. The only drawback is the lack of the lockout on the fork which others have mentioned. I mainly ride this on paved trails but have no doubt that it could handle some real trail riding. It comes with off road racing tires and I wish it had better trail tires.

I am 6'0 tall with a 30 inch inseam, 185lbs. Can someone recommend what size bike I should buy? I was guessing 20 inch but there is none in stock. TIA.

Update: they recommended 19" for someone my size.

Suspension (at least good suspension) is usually the most expensive component of the bike.

Look at it this way - if you're new to MTB and just want to mess around on fire roads or easy trails, the stock fork is fine forever. If you catch the bug and increase your skills after a year or two, you can upgrade the fork then for a lot less money than buying a better bike.

All cheap bikes have lousy forks. What did you expect?
