Does anyone know the major differences with this blu-ray burner and this one: BW-16D1X-U

Does the external power supply with the BW make your computer work less, meaning is there less wear and tear on your computer or is there no difference in this regard?

If you are just ripping an owned blu-ray to an external hard drive, is the read speed all one should be concerned about? I assume if you are not burning the blu-ray to another disc then the write speed does not matter, if this is the case and the above use case is all you need, will the BW and this product work at the same speed?

If you own a Macbook with a 3.0 usb, will this product work only using one USB port?

Thanks.

Thank you, extreme fatigue has warped my reading skills, but if anyone does know, if all you are doing is ripping a blu-ray to save to an external hard drive so one can play back on a Nividia Shield type player, is the read speed all that matters?

And does an external power supply reduce the wear and tear on your computer?
