Nest Secure for $300

Nest partnered with Moni for professional monitoring of their Nest Secure alarm system.

Moni is offering the Nest Secure for $300 ($200 off retail) if you sign up for their monitoring. Moni isn't advertising the fact there are literally no strings attached, for obvious reasons, but you can get the Nest Secure for $300 without ever paying a cent for monitoring. This deal was supposed to run only for a month in February to raise awareness for the new Nest monitoring, but Moni is still offering it.

The Nest Secure ships directly from Google, is returnable directly to Google within 30 days, you don't need to sign up for a monitoring contract or activate/pay for monitoring at all to get the Nest Secure, and once you get the Nest Secure it is yours to keep, whether you cancel monitoring or not.

I personally did this and it was painless.

1. Sign up for month-to-month monitoring with Moni and they will ship you a Nest Secure for $300. They place the order with Nest and it ships directly from the Nest Store. The same exact package you'd get if you purchased it from the Nest Store directly. New in the box, sealed. Even the shipping confirmation email with the tracking number comes from the Nest Store.

2. Moni will give you an activation code for monitoring when you order the system. You use this code in the Nest Store to activate monitoring. If you activate monitoring using this code you get a free month of monitoring from Moni, starting when you activate it, after which they will start billing you at $29.99/mo.

3. When you get the Nest Secure don't activate the monitoring with the code they give you. You can use the Nest Secure, pair it with your phone app, everything, without activating monitoring. That is a separate service.

4. Live chat with Moni on their website (https://mymoni.com) and tell them you don't want monitoring and to cancel it. Because you never activated monitoring with the code on the Nest Store, you've paid nothing for monitoring.

You now have a Nest Secure for $300, direct from Google, returnable to Google within 30 days, for cheaper than anywhere else you can find it online, even eBay.

Alternatively, activate the monitoring and this is still a good deal because Moni allows you to pay month-to-month and you can cancel anytime. This is cheaper than any of the big alarm companies like ADT, etc.

None. It's a month-to-month agreement so you can cancel whenever you want. I just said I decided I don't want monitoring for now and they cancelled it. You can add it later at any time through the Nest Store or by talking to Moni directly.

They also let you pay $20/mo with $20 down rather than laying out the full price up front; however, you are required to maintain the service during the 24 months.

I didn't see that there was a contract, are you 100% on that? That said, it is $15 a month which is reasonable.

Yea it's in the bottom section.

My larger issue that's holding me back from Nest for security is its very expensive compared to other comparable systems when you start adding sensors. Want to add smoke detectors? $119 for Nest, $29 from SimpliSafe. Want to add additional door sensors? $59 from Nest, $29 from SimpliSafe. Cameras? $199 from Nest, $99 for two from SimpliSafe (with current sale, normally $99 each). When you add it all up for a single family home, I have a hard time justifying 3x to 4x the cost.

Don't these integrate with Samsung SmartThings? I have Halo+ Smart/CO2 detectors because they're far superior to Nest, IMO.

Also, SimpliSafe has apparently decided they either do not want to or are unwilling to fix the security vulnerability in their system. ttps://simplisafe.com/blog/our-commitment-to-your-security

All Moni Smart Security plans require that customers sign into a binding three- to five-year contract.

Isn't that contradicting OP's comments on it being month to month?
