I use this exact router as an AP (extender) and it seems to work flawlessly for me. For clarity sake, I will refer to your existing router at your "main router" and this new Archer C8 device as your "AP". What you need to do in order for it to be used as an AP is:

Run Ethernet from one of the LAN ports on your Main Router into one of the LAN ports of the AP. NOTE: the Ethernet cord needs to be plugged into one of the regular yellow LAN ports of the AP, NOT the blue port that says "Internet" that you would normally use if going with a traditional setup.
Log into the configuration page of your AP.
Assign the AP a static IP address.
Turn OFF DCHP on the AP. Your Main Router will be performing this function, so you want it OFF for your AP.
Assign the AP to have the exact same SSID name and passwords as the Main Router.

This is how I set mine up and it works great so far. I use an ASUS AC2900 as my Main Router. I have no issue with connecting to my AP through wireless or through wired. I can even use my Plex Server which is plugged directly into my AP.

Got one last BF. Excellent range. Installed different firmware to run VPN on it and it runs well most of the time. Stock firmware was rock solid. Highly recommend this router.

Excellent deal at $35

it's a router, isp has nothing to do with it.

Should be compatible with any ISP. This is a router, not a modem. If you're renting a modem from comcast then definitely look at buying your own modem.

Awesome, thanks! I've been running the C9 for a while (very similar, faster CPU) and it's been excellent. I'm moving to a larger place soon so I just picked up two of these C8's for extra WiFi coverage. Smilie

I have Verizon gigabit and have their modem. Would I still need to keep their modem if I install this? Any opinions if Verizon's WiFi router is better than this.

If you have any type of TV or phone bundle with your fios gigabit, your stuck with the Verizon router. If you just have internet, you can use this instead. You may need to call them and tell them to enable it somehow ( not sure as I had them use my router from the start), but you def can use it with internet only fios.

I'm sure this is YMMV but I just hooked up an old belkin router to my FiOS router and it just works. I tried connecting to the belkin over WiFi and it seems fine. Don't have a long enough Ethernet cable for it to be useful though Frown
