I personally did a ton of research back in December and I went with the Dyson V6 Animal. Hands down Dyson is the way to go if you're willing to spend the extra money. I posted this vacuum because it's a great deal for anyone on a budget or looking for a quick cheap spot occasional cleaner. I've been using the Dyson V6 for 4 months now and it's been amazing, you can get it now around $200 new. If you want more power and don't mind the money, for $250 they have the V7 or $300+ is the V8. Hope that helps.

I was leaning toward a Shark. IMO - Dyson looks neat and sounds neat but I have to question their actual functionality. I know someone who had that fancy fan/heater thing they paid $400 for and it died in less than two years. Also, their paperless hand dryers look cool but hardly work. I've never used their vacuum so maybe that's something different but I'm staying away.

Seems pretty good for wood and tile floors and it's really light. Suction is decent and it can get under couches and beds which makes this much more versatile then a lot of others in this category. I also tried it on some low carpet and it did just fine.
