A wide angle foscam ip camera and your smartphone can give you the same functionality at less than half the cost. No interchangeable lenses but I doubt many people actually change the lens on theirs. The wide angle lens which is not included is the most useful once your toddler starts getting out of their bed on their own.

Only a little more than Amazon's black friday pricing. I picked up a used like new for about $81 at that time. Wonderful device and I believe sits at about $159.99 at Walmart/Target.

I had Foscams and this is much better for its intended purposes. And I never changed my lens.

I think I bought mine open box from eBay for $110. I don't believe it goes on sale too often.

If you ever have an issue their CS is amazing as well. Highly recommended.

Deal is dead. I had this in my baby wish list, and it actually still shows $127, but when you click on the link it's back up in price. Other sellers also show the higher price.

Some parents don't want an internet accessible camera on their children.

Purchased this prior to the arrival of our second. Absolutely love this monitor as it toggles between the two rooms with great picture quality. Highly recommended!

I've also used Foscam (and others) with excellent utility and a much lower price tag. If you're a little bit techy, you can get lots of additional functionality and link the feeds of multiple cameras, too. In the end, it all comes down to what you need for your own use (e.g., if you want to change a lens for some reason).

It's easy to avoid any access to the internet for the IP cam, but some parent's aren't the most tech savvy.

Damn it. This was on my registry and was just about to add to cart but noticed the price went back up. That was quick.

That, and some people are just paranoid. There was some news about baby monitor feeds being hacked around the time I first started shopping for them, along with that one website that actually let you just click on any openly accessible webcam some time back. Baby monitors, house cameras, etc. It was a real eye opener and very disconcerting. With something like this it's not only literally plug in and go, you don't have to worry about setting up or not setting up something securely at all. It's almost low-tech in that regard but provides peace of mind against the privacy and snooping thing.

If you don't already, use Camel(x3) for alerts. I've had this thing on there for ages and it alerted me with an email earlier today before this made it to the front page. I don't even need one anymore as I've had my original one and then purchased a second entire unit during the last price drop because I felt it was more worth it to have an extra monitor as a back up instead of just buying an additional camera.

If the repeated positive reviews haven't convinced you, let me just say that I was trying to think of any possible reason to buy this again when I received the alert, despite not needing it.
