No offense but either you did or were doing something wrong or you got a defective product. This should start a 3 series car like nothing. I started a V8 pickup with 600A, this thing has 800A.

Only if you need the extra amps, the other charger has QuickCharge input and output - dramatically more useful as an actual powerbank for many newer Android devices.

Firstly, I do own one. It completely would have done it's job yesterday when I tried to get the wife's Odyssey started after my kid left the dome light on all night, but ran out of time for it to induce enough to the system to make the starter fire up, so we took another car.

Second, I am coming from a place of managing batteries and UPS units for entire data centers. From a place where nobody is using a term like "super boost."

Current makes heat. 12-gauge or 14-guage wire like that used in these little packs won't pass dozens of ampereres of current before melting, at least not for any length of time. What you can do is charge over more time.

That'll teach me to comment on these things with battery leptons. It's the second time in as many weeks I've tried to pass on some knowledge and been dinged on it by someone having seemingly no clue about how batteries actually work.

Every battery has a charge capacity, a nominal design voltage range, and a charge and discharge rate capacity. Your "super boost" argument tells me that you know not of these factors.

Also, nobody is convincing me that the same current is required to start a Civic as is a Cummins-equipped pickup. The mere size of the starter should indicate that, not to mention the compression difference, and therefore, load on the starter by way of the ring gear of the flywheel.

Cite your source if you disagree. State your case better, and I'll sure listen. Meantime... "Super boost?"

Or if you plan on using it to jumpstart a car.

wasn't this the one that was $45/ish a week or two ago?

I ordered it...got it in. came charged with 99% charge... havne' tused it yet..

but i think it was sold 3rd party so likely no price rebate?

edit: nope it was rated 1200A (which is probably false). i need to read the updates on that thread..

I bought 2 different power bank jump starters recently and neither was able to start a dead 2010 Kia Rio battery (Walmart brand, 2-3 years old). A jump start from a 25 year old Camry did the trick and it's been starting on its own since. Both were rated for bigger engines than the Rio's. Is it true that these lack the juice to start a completely dead battery, and only work on partially discharged ones? Or could I have had 2 bad units?

How long does it take to charge say from 25% or so, that would probably be about the least you would want it to discharge. Is it quick change rated?

Some of these might have some sort of protection built in to not allow it to jump start a completely dead battery. If there is, you'll probably find a way to bypass it in the manual. I have the AUKEY one and it jump started a 3L V6 engine after it sat for several months with a dead battery.
