If you wanted this before anyone else here is a preorder link I received in an email. You can't purchase it off the website unless you use this link. It is to expensive for me so I will wait for it to go on sale or stack lowes coupons.

TU for the pre-order link, great for those who need this before anyone else...

but I agree with the OP, way too much $$$ for my taste...

FYR
None smart occupancy dimmer $20-$30
Z-wave smart occupancy dimmer (GE 26933) $60
So adding Alexa is another $40-$70 on top..... you can add an Echo Dot to the GE Dimmer and have more functionality (probably) for a lower price.

I just got the email also from ecobee. I'm not 100% sold on ecobee, but even if I was a huge fan this is way too much for a single switch. I doubt I would even pay half that amount.

You're paying for research and development the actual product materials here probably cost an eighth. Looking forward to when these come way down in price.

If the Alexa in this is anything like the Ecobee4, I'll pass as that one is pretty useless right now. If this was in the $60 range, I'd probably jump. I'd even take a non-Alexa enabled version for $60.

If this is anything like their thermostats I would wait until more reviews come out from experienced users as it most likely has cheap internal components. The ecobee3 and 4 thermostats have pretty crappy temperature sensors and wifi chips. Their support team is great but their product quality is poor in my opinion for the price they charge for their products.

you had about 10000 people at apple lol.

this seems expensive for a smart switch even if it has a dot in it.

I haven't had any real issues with the thermostat overall, nor the sensors. Just the alexa has been crappy for me to the point where I just turn it off. I think the sensors have a pretty small(ish) distance from the thermostat, so that generally comes into play. In my split level home (1500sqft), I have one sensor in the upstairs bedroom which is probably 15-20feet (and one floor/wall) and the other in my den, which again is about 15-20 feet down a level with a wall.

I haven't had any problems with the ecobee3. Have one sensor in my upstairs room that gets really warm so at night I have this sensor added to the program so the AC runs more while I'm sleeping. This was the selling feature for me over nest. Also my router is upstairs and main thermostat down, no issues with WiFi or sensors connecting to main. Have 2 other sensors from an SD over a year ago I haven't opened yet. : -)

Yeah, I actually love my ecobee3 with multiple room sensors. It is light years ahead of the Honeywell one I had, 9500 series I think it was. If you want to talk about poor temp sensors, try that and you'll appreciate the ecobee a lot more!

smart light switch + dumbed down alexa + ecobee remote temp sensor. So it's basically for someone who's planning to install a smart switch anyway and why not have another room temp sensor.

I did have an issue with one of my sensors losing connectivity once in a while so they just sent me a new one. They let me keep the old one and I still use it but once in a blue moon it disconnects then reconnects.

It pokes out of the wall. That looks pretty bad to be honest. For something that doesn't even dim $99 is pretty pricey too! And since you are posting it on here, I assume the MSRP is even higher. There are a ton of brackets for mounting an echo dot in your ceiling or off a wall outlet that are way cheaper people may wanna consider instead of this.
