I have one. I consider it quite painful to set up. Did not enjoy that process but now that it is set up it works fairly well.

It's great to have but I like my ultimate with the touch screen on the remote. I will be pretty lost without it when it comes to navigating everything on a regular remote. It looks like the app would create the visual that you would need and if this could just be sold as a hub with your mobile device as your remote it would be a much bigger staple in every household

It is sold separately as well (without the remote). The remote is unnecessary especially when you set it up for use with Alexa. But this is a great deal as it is cheaper now than buying the hub alone. TU

Good deal and works well once you get it setup. Those that complain about the setup process never had the pleasure of using the 90's version of the universal remote. No entering 20+ codes just to get the Menu button to work on the DVD player or trying to find that crazy code that works a DVD/VCR combo. Just search for the brand and model of the device. Then set up your macros to allow easy switching from TV to Movie, to Xbox, to etc. Even though it looks like it only supports 3 modes, if you press and hold the mode button, it does a different mode if assigned. So it's really a 6 device setup with a very easy to use remote. My wife loves it and if the kids loose the remote in a couch, I just bring up the app until it shows up.

Is this dead? All I see are used remotes now, all for more than $60.

Hi, I'm looking to get one of these, but what is the difference between the Home Control and Companion?

Use case - controlling an onkyo receiver in a media closet along with a ps4, chromecast, and sonos.
