Comcast XFINITY, Comcast Business, Cox Communications and other US service providers, however, ask your cable company if they support DOCSIS cable modems. -slickdewmaster

IMO, since this is a first-gen DCSIS 3.1 modem there's no rush to buy unless you need/will use the speed now. Prices will continue to drop as the tech progresses. That said, I've read good things about both this and the Arris equivalent if you want the headroom/future-proof-ness.

In the meantime, you can get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem that'll likely fit your needs for much less.

Love this modem. Pull ~950Mbps on Comcast now.

I chose this over the ARRIS for heat dissipation and the fact that my old 6141 lit up my whole room at night - and covering the LEDs didn't help (still shone through the mesh plastic sides).

Bought this for my gigabit internet, surprised at how stable it is for the price!

How stable is this modem for non-gig? Comcast gig is just becoming available in my town but since I live in a condo, it will probably be a while before I can get it but I do need a new modem to replace a SB6121 that is too slow for my current tier.

After doing research on the two, they seem to trade blows and really it's hard to say which is better now since things can change in the future.

Does anyone know if this modem uses the Puma chipset?

No, it doesn't. I don't think the Puma chipset is DOCSIS 3.1 capable anyway like this modem is.

Thanks! I have the XB6 from Comcast and the Arris version of that uses the Puma so it has some issues every now and then.
