It seems to me now that these smart plugs are generic and companies buy them and slap their own brand on them now.

These seem a cut above the usual $10/piece offering -- energy monitoring (similar to "Kill-a-Watt") isn't available or advertised on the generic ones.

Disagree. I see a lot of the cheapo ones with energy monitoring lately, $10 seems about average for those now. You can get the basic wifi plugs without that for $5

'Next time you see one w/o energy monitoring for $5, by all means post the deal. I've rarely seen any Smart Outlet go below $10, unless you're gambling on ordering direct from China. Thanks.

I almost exclusively buy off Amazon to avoid long shipping times, the problem is inventory, a lot of times when they are too cheap they sell out quickly and people get mad they missed out hours later so I don't usually bother but they pop up all the time from different brands. If you're in the market I could PM when you when I see one though.

I actually think this is a good thing. At least I can use the same app and buy whatever seller has the best deal without thinking about compatibility issues.

I used vipon and got a 3 pack from Amazon for $15. That one may not work anymore but they still have a 2 pack for $12.99
