Ugh, I'm actually interested but wish the seller hadn't just recently posted the product, and the 5-star reviews that go along with it. And the inevitable SD shilling is almost embarrassing for them as it has so many tell-tale signs..

8 reviews, 7 are 5-star.
The 1-star review seems to have valid feedback, that the device does not support 4K.
When you run the URL through fakespot, you'll see multiple reviewers with:
* Overwhelming amount of positive reviews
* Correlation with other fake reviewers' profile data and language.
* Large number of reviews created on the same date.

Fakespot grade F

So probably cheap components, low build quality for something that will start failing in a few months when it's time to buy another. I'll pass on this one Frown

Heres my question, it says:

Quote :
When connecting your MacBook to a screen, the USB-C charging port can charge MacBook simultaneously to prevent low battery.
So knowing that - why would anyone buy something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-U...ng+station

I mean - does this 10 dollar device have 90% of the function of the $100 dock?

I just need HDMI out - USB will go to my hub, and as long as it charges thats everything.

Yes some people need more ports (but a hub fixes that), ethernet (wifi is fine for me), different display connectors, but for 10 bucks - this is great (if the claim they make is true).

Great insight, except now you just spelled out what they can do to improve their tactics to fill you next time 😂
But yes, I agree, you're spot on

Not sure why people rely on Fakespot so much, it provides some good info but most are algorithms

I bought an F-rated connector lately, it's actually made of metal, well built and have worked perfectly fine for my XPS 13.

Truth is, most of these adapter/accessories all come out of the few factories in China. The OEM maybe tried these shaddy promotion tactics, but the product aren't necessarily bad. Fakespot can only spot if the reviews are legit, not the product. Also, it's Amazon, why worryPeace

If the product is good, the supplier shouldn't have to falsify reviews. That's a red flag and the point of fakespot.

********** THIS DEVICE DOES NOT EXTEND USB-C **********

Be aware that this device does not extend USB-C. The USB-C female is for charging only.

They shouldn't. But apparently under such competitions and where US buyers will eliminate you at first sight if there's no reviews, they have to. Not to promote such activities but that's why
