Good point. I didn't see the critical reviews. I saw that Wirecutter recommended it.

What is a "professional" iron besides the massive ones you see at dry cleaners?

I'm certainly no "professional" but I have been ironing clothes on a daily basis for the past 20 years, and I've used dozens of different irons over the years. This was literally the first high quality iron I've used that does not allow you to control steam, which was the reason i never bought it. I think about five years ago now (maybe a little longer than that...the years kind of blur) I bought this iron despite mediocre reviews from bed bath and beyond and I have been using it daily to this day.

If you think you won't like it because you can't control the steam, you will be wrong (I think, lol, at least I was). After you take your first swipe on a dress shirt or whatever with this iron you will understand the reason it costs what it does, and you will be happy with your purchase. Unless you have a dud that leaks (which mine does not but probably 10 to 15 percent do leak per the reviews...if yours leaks just exchange it for a new one because you got a dud) it is worth the price of purchase. I've even dropped mine once off of the ironing board and it is still working fine.

I don't think I'll ever be able to justify paying $100 for an iron.

I like your idea. A mouse and iron in-one?

I iron my clothes everyday, and I could use a better iron, but $100 is a big cost for it. I have seen a lot of poor reviews regarding build quality and leaking.

Looks wireless from this picture.

$100+ for an iron, sounds more steep than a slick deal.
