Maybe an ignorant question...why pay for a public domain book? Isn't the book available from Gutenberg for free?

Can see getting the audible version at least.

How is this a slick deal? Why would anybody pay for a public domain ebook? Is this particular version better than these or am I missing something? So many questions.

Twain read by some Eurodork or by Ron Swanson for half the price? Pretty easy choice...

Huck Finn is my favorite Twain title. I think Wood embodies the main character well.

But I hear you on Swanson \ Offerman. He's a great pick for Sawyer & King Arthur's Court

I listened to that one recently and loved it. I had already listened to Tom sawyer narrated by grover gardener and enjoyed the first few chapters immensely but started flagging towards the middle and end. I think that's largely because I really enjoyed the social commentary, which Tom Sawyer is front loaded with and Connecticut Yankee is chocked full of throughout. Gardener did a good job but given Offerman's performance on CY I think he'd do better. I thought Gardner did a great job on The Stand by King tho. I've listened to that behemoth twice.

Either, I think, offers a more genuine fit than Frodo. Nothing against Wood. I like him just fine as an actor and I think he'd he'd probably be a decent narrator. Just not for a down south classic.

I'm surprised that book hasn't been banned from school since it has the word censored in it so many times

It's censored? Seriously? This is not a deal if it's censored.

What word is censored the one I hear in most of the lame ass music videos I happen to see. The irony a classic work of great literature, one that was one of the greatest attacks against slavery, racism and other obnoxious and hypocritical human behavior, gets banned for using a certain word while no talent wannabees use the same sell albums to suburban kids so they can play ghetto or those in worse situations that take the messages seriously and end up with destroyed lives. This going on while the majority of parents are giving access to their twelve year olds to watch the most extreme of porn and even to spread a few pictures of themselves for all the classmates to see. Also letting them consume the most crass, crude and base "entertainment" or sit in front of screen all day playing games or preening and making duck lips on social media.

The same said parents can then can try grab some virtue and look important by not letting them read serious literature as if it could be dangerous to them. They can even post on facebook what heroes they are and be lauded by fellow idiots as being heroes. We are doomed I hate to say. The ignorant used to many times strive to lift their children out of ignorance, now they hang on their ankles to make sure the children don't end up any better than them.

Yes I can see why the children need to be saved from Twain he had a brilliant way of pointing out such cruel, horrific, idiotic and hypocritical behavior and could be quite cruel about it. God forbid a child get smart enough to see the truth. Keep them blinded with sex crudity, envy and sloth lest they get strong, smart and educated and make the parents and other adults that should be doing right by them look bad.
