Zaycon sells in bulk. You order on the website and choice your pickup place. A truck arrives, typically a tractor trailer. Cones are set up with signs directing you to back of truck. You give your name and once it's checked off the orders, a helper loads your order into your vehicle. The last time I ordered chicken it came it a sturdy box within two heavy plastic bags. Four bags were inside with 10 pounds of chicken breasts in each. These are fresh whole boneless chicken breasts. You must arrive within the pickup time as they will not wait, unless you call ahead with a problem. They have multiple pickup places within the day so they cannot wait. I, personally, have ordered from them and have been very pleased.

If you can find a close pickup this is a great deal. The quality of the chicken is great and the breasts are HUGE.

The only downside is that often times two breasts are connected to each other they way they came off the chicken, which means that you still have to deal with some of the connective tissue that connects the breasts together.

I was thinking about doing this but was in Walmart last night and they had frozen skinless boneless chicken breast for a 10 pound bag at $9.88.

Serious question. Why this over that? I'm going to freeze 40 pounds anyway so freshness is not a good reason I'm thinking.

Never heard of this. Checked local locations. Very odd - none of them really seem to be in high population areas - but random out of the way places?

How are the prices compared with a mass retailer like WM? I'm pretty sure bacon is on the order of $3-$4/lb anyway - why would I buy a pig's worth?

Getting something Fresh and then freezing it yourself is way different from purchasing already frozen.

For some, this might go straight to the grill then refrigerated. Esp for those who cook for large groups. Then it's optimal because less time defrosting.

I believe the quality of chicken is going to be much better than Wal-mart. (according to online reviews) I've never been impressed with Wal-mart meat. I'm biased though and don't like Wal-mart and I try to shop online whenever possible. I hear Zaycon uses farms that are basically organic, they don't add a 15% solution to the meat, have huge chicken breasts and don't freeze them. I ordered mine awhile ago and my pickup is this coming Friday. I plan on reporting back on these threads so everyone can make an informed decision. They have a high customer retention rate so, If they're returning, it's most likely good quality. For the price, it's worth looking into. My local Scottys chicken has huuge chicken breasts and I can't ever find them that size in the stores, I might have found their source lol.

Looking into this more, there are tons of reviews on YT, including by people that "make a living" cooking and YTers.

First price - you'd think you'd get a better price/lb by buying in bulk but it doesn't appear that way. Since I do nearly all our shopping @ WM, I checked out prices last night and they were cheaper than Zayco for equivalent type of meat - 80/20 beef was like $2.80, chicken breasts were $1.95 and generic bacon was about $3/lb. Zayco is showing me $3.19, $1.89 and $3.99, respectively. All similar to or more expensive than WM. PLUS you have to buy a gigantic amount, and unless you're planning on a huge party that will coincide with one of their shipments, you're going to have to prep and freeze it anyway. In the case of chicken, prefrozen breasts are even cheaper than fresh.

So unless the quality is outstanding, I don't see a real reason to buy from this place. I did have a coupon offer or 2 once I gave them my email address, but I don't think saving $10 is enough to make me deal with the hassle of buying 40 lb of meat and processing it.

The deal was for boneless chicken breasts for $.99/lb. Where can you get an equivalent deal?

Probably down to $1.50 and I don't have to buy 40 lb. If you're going to freeze it anyway generally the price is even lower than that.

I just picked up 40lbs yesterday from the deal a few months ago. Good looking stuff. Vacuum sealed it and split 1/2 the load with friends and neighbors. The pickup was 6 minutes from work and easy as can be. Gave the man my name and he loaded off the truck into my trunk.

I placed an order in January and I picked mine up today and I have to say this was definitely money well spent. I just prepared chicken and peppers and this is seriously the most tender chicken I have had in a very long time. I tend to overcook my chicken just to be safe and even with overcooking it, it is still very moist. I split 20 pounds with my sister, but I think I may order again and store it in my deep freezer. Certain markets might be able to get chicken breast around this price point, but the quality makes this chicken far superior in my opinion. Pickup was quick and easy; I drove up and they put the chicken in my trunk in less than five minutes. Given the limitations of the locations, you might have to coordinate a pickup with a friend or family member (especially if you split the deal), but I definitely think it's worth it.I definitely say it's worth a shot.
