There are several bad firmware updates for several Netgear Nighthawk router models.

They have said they fixed the disconnect issues several times in patch notes, but they have not. It is best to use some of the older version firmware which varies by model. The older firmware, without security updates, actually does run well, but you are losing vulnerability patches by using the older firmware.

$50 is where it should be, got the costco one and it requires a reboot every 2 days, sometimes every day.

I absolutely love my NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 that I picked it up on Amazon [amazon.com] some time last year. It sat in the box for several months while I dealt with the usual quirks of my previous router. All of my networking issues went away after I finally hooked up my AC1900. I've been using it for almost a year now and it's worked flawlessly. It was extra simple to set-up and I've never had to cycle the power for any reason. I'm constantly adding wireless devices and the AC1900 continues to run smoothly. I highly recommend the AC1900. It gets pretty good reviews on Amazon (4.2) but even better reviews on Best Buy's [bestbuy.com] website (4.7). I hope this helps someone.

Costco must have had a shitty batch of routers. Bought this off amazon. Updates and all. No issues. No reboots.

I highly recommend this router!

Have about 15 home devices (lifx, etc) alongside computers and phones.

I have the x6, it's junk and not worthy of the Nighthawk name. Constant reboots required, buffering issues on anything over 1080p and local transfers are inconsistent at best. Honestly I wouldn't get this again for free. I much prefer the reliability of the Nighthawk 1900 or Asus routers, the Asus AC88U is a good comp to the specs on this router and never have any issues. I plug in an Asus router and all my speeds are restored and months in between reboots. Pass on this one...

I got my X6 from Amazon, not Costco.

Mine does not have this issue. Set it up 4 months ago and haven't needed to touch it at all.

There was a bad firmware update for the X6 and X6s. I have the X6s from Costco, and installed a previous version of the firmware. Works fantastic, and I do not have to reboot it. If you're willing to put in a little effort to install the older firmware, this router is absolutely worth it.

I think that speaks volumes about this router/company! Thank you!

Hate my r7000,lasted all of 5 months, too bad I bought at Amazon, if Costco it would go back. My family wants to kill me with this crap wifi. Seriously go to Netgear forums BEFORE buying and witness the Carnage. I'm not certain with this model but the r7000 for sure, Netgear is off my list
