Hello,

Anyone here who paid for travel solely with UR points via CSR successfully completed Trip Cancellation refund due to legitimate reason (e.g. medical emergency)?

Any tips would be appreciated!

Are they giving you an issue with a refund? Curious as I booked a trip for next month solely using UR points.

not a trip cancellation but baggage misplaced by airline during trip for 3 days. Paid trip with chase Sapphire.

The insurance included 500 per traveler to buy "stuff". Had no issue getting reimbursement as long as I had the recipts.

My parents just had to put a claim in due to weather. Flights were canceled because of snow and they missed their cruise out of Miami. Trip was for first week of March.

They were refunded from American airlines immediately and so far have had no issue dealing with the insurance company, which I believe is Allianz.

Nice Post. I will go on the trip but One of my friends cancels the trip so I want to know about cancellation process. I also have a website which describes the help for the Hotmail Customer Support to get the solution for email related queries.

Forgot I even posted this. From doing more research I feel pretty confident I will get my refund. It's a lot of information to gather before submitting, however the Card Benefit Services have been helpful on where to get certain information they need. I plan to submit it this week so hopefully everything goes smoothly. The only part I am concerned about is that since it was cancelled with UA and I can use the credit with UA (plus hefty fees) within 1 year. They may tell me that I cannot be refunded the points until the year is up and the credit was not used. I'm hoping that's not the case though.

Does a 10 hr connecting flight delay, get some benefit? I used the card to pay for the tickets.

They have a trip delay feature. If it's a covered delay, you can file a claim. They even paid out when Atlanta airport lost power last year. I think it's like a 6 hour delay minimum.

Update: Submitted my claim about a week ago and received an email today that I would be getting a refund, however it was a lot less then anticipated. Called Card Benefit Services and was informed that since I have a credit with UA I cannot get the rest of my refund until that credit expires which is in November. Basically they just refunded me the amount of the change fee.

It also seems like I may be getting refunded in cash rather then UR points, which I'm ok with as long as it's valued at 1.5 cent per point (which I believe will be the case) since I used over 150k UR points through their UR portal.

Overall happy with the outcome and just have to play the waiting game.
