I'm looking for a quality USB 3 hub that'll allow me to plug in two "portable" class external hard drives (i.e. drives without external power bricks).

I presumably need wall power for this? Will bus power be enough?

It'd be nice if it came with extras like a USB-A to USB-C adapter and/or ethernet, but those are just nice-to-haves. Don't really need device charging, etc. Cheaper is better!

Any suggestions? Reps for good info! Thanks!

so, if you're doing any external hd's, afaik you need external power on the hub, which these all have.

if you're looking for usb-c, ethernet, dp, hdmi,e tc then you need probably usb-c thunderbolt hub, which has them all and they are $40+ typically (good ones). they also come with 60w to 100w charge power

what this deal is 2 ways: 1 good quality usb hub wiht power switch and 2nd is same but with 3 usb data ports. i use old version on this,,, my 1 data port for charging phone and other to run a fan , and 3 usb are used for randoms flash like flash drives, docking station, etc

Thanks for the response. I actually posted this before I saw that it came with a power adapter. Derp!

But what's really odd, is independently of this deal, I found this: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM/ref=sr_1_2?s=elect... [amazon.com] which is the same exact thing, except about $4 cheaper before coupon, and maybe a dollar more expensive after coupon. Sorta annoying they'd have two different listings for the same exact product. I think that's a standard 5V/2.5a power adapter which I have lying around, but I doubt it's worth worrying about to get the one without the adapter and save a buck or so (presumably the actual hub in the box is the same).

i think it's because this is sold by amazon.com vs their own store. and a fun fact, there are few brands that started as amazon store and now sold by amazon. i dont know whats the criteria but i imagine reputation, sales, and quality are counted.

You might get away with one portable HD on a hub, and a couple data only related USB things, depending on what your USB port on the computer will put out.

it's usb 3.0, so 5gb/s, or more realistic 300-350MB/s with a SSD, so it'll max out any other non-ssd hd.

You mentioned ethernet on another post. Do they make network attached versions of these hubs?

I bought the hub only on a prior FP, anyone know if the power adapter is available separately?
