The C12FDH 12 In. dual compound miter saw with dual bevel features Hitachi's exclusive laser marker system for cutting accuracy. The saw Head bevels to the right or left- allowing the material to stay securely in place for ultimate cutting efficiency. It cuts various types of wood, crown molding, plywood, decorative panels, soft fiberboard, hardboard and aluminum sashes.
Exclusive laser marker system accurately indicates where the blade will cut on the material and can be easily adjusted to the right or left of the cut mark depending upon the users preference
Powerful 15 amp motor with 1,950 W of output power smoothly powers through hardwoods with ease
Tall, pivoting aluminum fence that stands at a height of 5-1/8 In. allows crown molding to be cut vertically for convenience
After major bevel angle is secured, micro-bevel adjustment knob can be used to dial-in to a precise angle without the weight of the saw Head compromising the accuracy

Great deal on a great saw. I've had this saw going 5 years, works great. Change out the blade to a good Diablo for rough cuts or a good Dewalt high tooth for trim work... Love this saw

Is this worth almost $200 without the slide feature you see on many now?

yes it is. this is a very high quality saw at an amazing price. slide featured saws are notoriously less accurate in cutting, especially lower priced models (As you would typically find in this price range).

So would you not recommend not using a slide miter at all then?

I have this saw. It is a beast.

Just a few weeks ago I made a cut and wasn't bracing the piece correctly. The piece spun out and ended up breaking the right fence (and giving me a bruise on the belly). Fence was replaced on amazon for ~$25.

Get a nice saw stand and you are set.

Just checked and I paid $186 in 2012 so this is a good deal!

When shopping at lowe's always use the coupons and try to snag discount giftcards. Go through a cashback site also. I call this the triple stack. Dicount giftcard + coupon + cashback. Usually works out to be ~25% discount.

unless you absolutely need a slider, then a regular compound miter saw is generally a better tool to have (If you are getting one saw).

there used to be $40 off $200 coupons, but i don't believe there are any active codes for that at the moment. if there are then the deal is even slicker.

I love my 10" inch sliding dewalt. Spend a bit more. Get more functionality. Get a smaller footprint. I owned this saw. It has a very large footprint.

Great saw but it's so big and bulky that it's hard to move around. I wanted to carry it up to our third floor but doing that alone risked banging into the walls and what not. Didn't risk it and instead mad 37 trips up and down two flights of stairs.

No way at that price since it's almost twenty bucks in tax. At best, the coupon code negates the tax for you if you can get it so it's still around $200 for a decent machine.

The topic of an absurdly high 10% sales tax is something you ought to be taking up with your lawmakers, not your fellow slickdealers.

So questions, I am tired of using a circular saw for all my 2x4 and 4x4 cutting. It would also be nice to be able to cut my plywood a bit more consistently but I suspect this would require a table saw compared to a miter saw. I don't have the space for such a table saw at this point but do hope so in the next year or two. I suspect the wife will want to do trim at some point in a year or two as well.

Think it is worth grabbing this to make my set wood cutting easier with the expectation I could use it for trim later and have to deal with getting a table saw at some point or better to hold off for something better/more cost efficient when we are closer to actually needing the equipment?

Thanks
