Nice deal, butttttt....

1. The cameras are 720p, which to many, myself included, is insufficient res
2. They require cloud service from Zmodo: Basic 36hrs reverse storage is free, 7 days storage is $50 per year, 1 month reverse storage is $100 per year
https://www.zmodo.com/cloud/

The GOOD:
-- Four cams for cheap
-- 2-way audio - THIS IS GREAT

The BAD and UGLY:
-- Low res
-- Cloud service required = no privacy
-- Need to pay for a better cloud service
-- Internet failure = surveillance interrupted
-- Wi-Fi is vulnerable to intended interference

I actually bought these from walmart last week. They were on lighting sale a few days ago (2-pack) which came out a little cheaper but I went with walmart as I'd rather pay a little more and easily be able to return it. I read the reviews and watched the tutorials and figured I'd take a chance.

All in all the cameras are pretty good. My main concern was the app as I couldn't find much details and review said there were a lot of issues. Using an iphone everything connected just fine, haven't had any kind of crashing issues. Only two issues, 1) can't split screen, you can only watch one camera at a time with Zmodo app. (I think you can use zSight but i didn't like it as much) Secondly not sure if this is a bug but you can't save the images\videos to your iphone. Normally apps "request" access to camera, microphone, photo rolls, etc but the current version is not even making the request so you can't grant access and saved data goes no where.

The camera quality is ok, night vision too. Not amazing but you get what you pay for. 3 of the cameras work fine, but one seems to get stuck on night or day mode and takes a while to finally switch. May be a physical issue with the hardware. I guess it all depends what you're using the cameras for. I have two small kids and I wanted to use these more as baby monitors rather than security cameras. These are great for just double checking the kids aren't killing each other upstairs. You may not like them if your sole focus is pure security.

Hope this helps

Thanks USB2,

Hmmm.. iirc Wyze is about $20 per camera for a 1080p camera, so $80 vs. $64

14 days of free storage w/Wyze ... both indoor rated

1080p = 2.25x pixels of 720p

Seems to me that Wyze would be a better deal for only $16 more for 4 1080p cameras

Wyze charges an additional $5 for shipping per camera. Can't get a discount for bulk purchase on the shipping as well. So $25 each.

How are these powered? Battery? If so it would give more versatility than Wyze. Wyze 2.0 is also on a production backlog currently to improve the manufacturing. This deal would be more immediate but who knows how user friendly it is.

I love the picture at Walmart that shows the camera talking to their kid.

"I'm coming home soon!
Make sure you behave for Dad!
-Okay, Mom"

I take that as Dad is totally ignoring their kid, passed out drunk on the floor. Geez...

To keep on topic, does anyone think I could mount this under an overhang for outside viewing? It's for checking the status of chickens inside a coop, so not to act like a real security system.

HI Vadim,

When I looked at them about 1 year(*) ago iirc it was only through their App - thus I skipped on getting them. Unless someone has a hack to jail break them they are cloud cameras w/o local access options.

Since then (*) I've learned a lot more about zmodo / funlux and really have come to distrust the brand due to deception in their ads on Amazon. ( as well as their astroturfing here on SDs )

I bought these right before the switch to their cloud service and don't recommend them. They don't trigger consistently for any real piece of mind.

The free recording isn't at 720p, maybe half that. Don't expect to ID an unknown person unless they walk directly up to the camera.

For the money they can't be beat. I have had two outside on my porch for two years to keep away the a holes and they have done their job.

I use the meshare app. You get what you pay for but for the price, no complaints.

How is the weather around you? Do winters get very cold and are you in a humid climate? I've thought about using something like these (cheap and potentially disposable if they do break) outdoor under cover but not sure how they will last depending on temperature/moisture.

NE Ohio. So yes, cold in winter. Hot and humid in the summer.
