The Arlo Q doesn't require hub so if you don't plan on putting the cam outside then I'd go with those. They work really well and don't require a subscription.
I decided to go with POE cameras and NVR. I need it for outside mainly. indoors i agree many good options.

There is definitely a convenience to cloud based automation, but if you don't want to pay monthly I'd recommend a cheaper wifi solution. I opted for a funlux 720p 4 pack outdoor camera system with nvr for $200, plus $50 for a 2tb hdd. 4 pack of cameras without nvr are $100 and include 36 hours of cloud motion recording storage you can download and remote monitoring too via phone app, or you can pay $5mo/$50yr for 7 days 24/7 for first cam, $2.50/$25 each additional, or 2x that for 30 day 24/7 retention. Since I have the nvr, I don't pay any subscription fees.

Downside to these cameras is no audio, av quality is ok, not great, and 2.4ghz only so you'll need a mesh system or at least one dedicated router for the cameras if you want anything else to function on 2.4ghz. They also do not use open standards so no using it with custom video software like Blue Iris. Email support is good, I got a question answered in one business day.

My point being unless you want fully plug and play/cloud automation/phone support, there are some more cost effective solutions. That said the set in this deal is a solid offering for a more "prosumer" setup.

on the deal...
damnnnnn that's an expensive camera, that you then have to pay an annual service fee for to make useful.
My parents in Portland OR have a data cap thru Comcast. I have Comcast in MD, no cap though.

I just got the inside nest cams and caught a orb going into my light and then turning it off,you can actually hear the switch turn off.then you see the orb go into my kitchen

https://youtu.be/MCQBDGD9Gsw

And then this one 20 mins later a blinking orb going up my stairs right to me as i am watching live, not a good feeling
https://youtu.be/MCQBDGD9Gsw

So am i crazy or is this dust?

Maybe not such a good deal since i want to sell my house now

Agree. Sell. This is the stuff in horror movies and they never sell or they start with the new owners wondering why they got such a great deal for the house. Don't be a horror movie.

Cameras are nice but almost useless without Nest Aware subscription which is more money.
I agree. Better to buy a traditional NVR or DVR video security system with no monthly fees.

Its a shame that google forces 24/7 recording otherwise i'd get a few of these.
You can create schedule for them to be turned off or on from the app afaik. Also pretty easy to put them behind a power switch/extension to turn on/off. Am I missing the concern here?

Bay Area. Comcast has a 1TB limit. If you have two nest cams and a nest Hello, you seriously start eating away at your caps.

Weird, tried ordering with PayPal checkout with PayPal Credit and got denied.
Then tried my Costco Visa and got a fraud alert, I used this same card to buy the Nest Hello from same seller/Rakuten too and that went fine. After I approved the fraud alert, now it works.

I think it's $100 per year for the first and $50 per year for any additional ones on the same accpunt

Yes, for 10 days of video history. They just added a 5 day plan for $ 50 a year. And $30 for each additional camera.
