The SD voting turns madness recently. The same deal prices $11.99 got raving 69 up-votes. While this $10.49 got no attention at all.

Do these need to be under direct sunlight?. I am planning to put these above my garage door, it is a bright area during day time, but does not get direct sunlight.

That's where the motion help to save power. It should be ok for a lite traffic area. Heavy traffic, you will need AC powered.

They will take a decent charge there.

I bought 6 of them yesterday, and 2 of them were delivered today. I took one straight out of the box without putting a full charge on it, and I've had it on constantly for 3 hours now, and it's just as bright as it was when I started. I believe you will get 6+ hours of constant light out of them, if their in a good location. They are well built too.
