Epson 5040UB Projector - $2299 - Amazon and Crutchfield

Both Amazon and Crutchfiled have this well reviewed projector for $2299 with free shipping. This is the lowest historical price for a Amazon sold new model. Seems like a bunch of other vendors are starting to pricematch as well, so not sure if this is the new normal price, or just a short term price match across the board.

Crutchfield: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-eQa...040UB.html

The UBE model, which adds wireless HDMI, is $300 more as well, also a historic low.

For those that get taxed from Amazon, "other sellers" usually match the price and do not change tax.

I am seeing prices from $2300 to as low as $1700 (no tax) on Google shopping. So not really a historical deal.
Who had it for 1700? I don't see that when I search. That's a great price.

That $1700 price is from tvsuperstores.com, a super sketchy site with an F rating on BBB. Buyer beware. $2300 is definitely the lowest price ever from a reputable retailer.

I just bought one from Crutchfield a month ago, and while it is SPECTACULAR, I'm planning on returning it at the end of my 60 day return period because I'm not satisfied with the HDMI chip being limited to only 10 Gbps. Other than that though, this is a truly incredible projector for this price, and I'm going to be sad to see it go.

I know that this model came out in 2016, but how fast are the HDMI chips now?

Not sure if you are asking how fast the HDMI chips are now in the 5040 or just in general but the latest HDMI 2.0b chips are rated at 18Gbps. With the 10Gbps chips in the 5040 you won't be able to watch 4K 60fps content like Billy Lynn's Halftime Walk.

Isn't Billy Lynn's Halftime Walk literally the only 4K 60fps movie available?

I think so at this point but you also have to consider other 4k60 sources like gaming, youtube, and some home video.

Visual Apex has the 5040UB for $2,299 with a free universal ceiling mount
http://www.visualapex.com/Epson/p...ema-5040UB

I bought my refurb 5020UBe from Visual Apex back in April 2014. The LCD alignment out of the box was not to my liking and their CS was great about it - said I could either return it or they can get it replaced thru Epson direct. I opted for a replacement but unfortunately it was worse than the first one and I had to contact VA & Epson again for a second replacement, and this time they had a tech test it out before sending it to me and I was finally satisfied. Still going strong after 4 years, but probably needs a bulb replacement soon. I have it projecting onto a 135-in screen in my basement.

I bought and own this projector. I almost took it back when I realized the bandwidth restrictions on this thing.

I plugged in an Xbox One S and the tests showed the projector couldn't handle a bunch of settings like 60 hz and 4K at the same time.

I "solved" this problem by buying a HDFury Linker, but that retails for $190 or so and took me hours to get working correctly. In my opinion, if you haven't been researching this and other projectors in it's price tier, wait another year or two to jump in on the "4K" projectors.

Once new models start coming out this year and 2019, more models will be plug-and-play with modern streaming and gaming consoles.

If you have enough discover cash back, you can get 20% off on Crutchfield via the discover website. Can make the deal a little sweeter.
