To give people who don't want to spend $800 on a phone a nice premium option for a phone. I know someone who just switched from a Galaxy to this and really likes it.

because not everyone wants to pay $800 for a phone when a $250 version will be more than enough for 99% of users (email / Facebook/ Youtube/ pictures).

You're kidding right? You don't see why someone would want a $250 phone that performs nearly as well as $800 flagships?

Nice, I just picked up the 32GB/3GB version for $190 a couple of weeks ago, love the phone. Lack of NFC isn't an issue for me, but it would be nice if it had USB-C and 802.11ac support.

Price on this phone will probably drop in the near future. Moto G6 is supposed to be released in may.

It exists because there was a gap in the market. The vast majority of cell phone users don't want to spend $500+ for a phone to make calls, texts and browse social media. Also, adoption of NFC is extremely low so most users don't care to have it. It also is compatible with every carrier in the US without having to make sure you have the right version, etc.

This phone has sold extremely well. It's a great phone to have sitting around for families, so when someones phone breaks you can immediately activate this one. They are also great for school kids because of how cheap and functional they are.

Does anyone know how this compares to the Samsung Note 5 performance-wise?

And does it work on Verizon? If so, is it missing any bands?

I'm moving from Sprint to Verizon, and I do a lot of hiking, so I'm trying to latch on to any bands that I can Smilie With phones being so expensive, I'm trying to get the best phones that I can without breaking the bank (I need 4 phones).

Thanks!

Yes, you'll need to make sure it's enabled on verizonwireless.com first for that phone number. A friend didn't have it turned on on their account for some reason. It's called HD Voice:
