After posting to these message boards I was contacted by Ishai Reinfeld, the CEO at Daily Steals who was very quick to resolve the situation in a more than satisfactory manner. I will post their reponse comments below:

Thank you so much for getting back to me through here, and I'm terribly, terribly sorry that this was handled like this. We were VERY clear to our customer service that anybody with issues with these cables would be helped and refunded if necessary. The truth is, we sold tens of thousands of these cables, and although the cables that we purchased were in fact MFi certified cables, it seems that with the latest sleuth of updates from iOS, some of the cables are no longer functioning. For this inconvenience, I've gone ahead and have refunded you for the full value of the order.

Again, the way this was handled is absolutely not the way we try to conduct our business, and I'm sorry for that.

Cant speak as to this particular product, but I would like to mention the company.

Purchased 12 cables on 2/1/2018 from Daily Steals ( . The cables weren't delivered until 2/21. Two cables were DOA. By 3/25 all of the cables were dead. Emailed customer service on 3/25 and they said tough cookies, you're outside the 30 day return window. They made no overture to send replacement cables or send a refund.

Watch out for this company. I think "Daily Steals" may be more than just a company name, appears it is a philosophy and a core operating principal.
