This usually goes for somewhere around $65, so this is super awesome. Camel camel camel says the average is $66.

As a professional disaster response volunteer, I'll tell you these things rock. I'd recommend some alum powder to go with it. Alum is great for making particulates clump and drop out before filtering, which saves your filter.

If you want to be able to have water, get this. Get some alum and some iodine. Oh and Sally is good too.

You can't survive without sleep. The next thing that'll kill you is no water.

Oh, and the zombies. They'll get you faster than either of those.

Is there a shelf life to these? Like say I use it once and it gets put back on a shelf for 6 months, is it essentially useless?

LifeStraw products use hollow-fiber membrane filters to remove contaminants from the water source. No chemicals or moving parts are involved within the filtering process, meaning nothing will expire. If stored in a cool dark place and allowed to dry out between uses, the LifeStraw will last until it reaches capacity.

The plastic will age quicker in high heat/humidity, but still would take a lot (months) at extreme conditions to deteriorate appreciably.
Water freezing inside will bust the filter though.

Is that necessary? No, but I do it because it's sterile and I like the taste.
(Thank you, Dodgeball and Rip Torn! LOL)

Coffee filters work great on urine BTW. Just don't let it sit around because it is a prime growth media and that happens quickly.

Out of curiosity, why would you want to put Coors Light through a filter? It ain't gettin' any better...

What if the cave has a full dialysis machine?

Asking for a friend.
