Yes, further down the page it says model number 4660R, so that's the 2017 model.

wonder is this is better than the 4640?
I bought one and had issues with popping noises and video dropping
I reached out to Roku and their tech support was horrible...basically making it a self service type of deal

I really love my Roku Ultras and am thinking about buying this. Trying to resist Smilie.

Hummmmm.... to buy or not to buy. I have an apple TV, but I recently lost the remote in a move and I'm not sure I'll find it. Tell me interwebs, should I bite at this?

IMO, this is a good deal but not a great deal. You can replicate this deal for awhile with Google Express and a 20 percent off coupon. 60-70 bucks shipped is more in the impulse buy range.

Very good product though.

Just recently got one of these. It is the 4660 model, so it is the newer one, but I can tell you that in a head to head comparison between it and a FireTV stick, there really is no comparison. The Roku is so much smoother and more responsive. Far more intuitive interface. If your decision comes down to a comparison between those two, splurge and get the Roku.

As far as stability goes, I don't know if the new Ultra is better than the old one, but I have a 4640 like you and it works fine, so perhaps they gave you a defective one. Not sure.

Beyond that, from what I've seen the 4660 (2017) is slightly faster than the 4640 (2016) - but in reality when it comes to launching videos, the difference is less than a second.

This sounds like it may have been a connectivity issue. Are you using it on a wireless connection?

That sounds like a bad HDMI cable. I had a similar issue when I unboxed my 4660R a few weeks ago. Replaced the cable and it's been flawless ever since.

I just received an ultra from walmart last week for $35 and a premier+ for $25 (refurb). Note the only reason I got the ultra was for the optical out. If you don't need that the premier+ will work just fine. Keep in mind the 2017 models do not have TV control like the 2018 ones, but both have ethernet (a must have for me). The 2018 models favor wifi which is a no go for me.

IMHO you should be buying refurbs here, they are so much cheaper. I have bought like 10 refurb Roku over the years, zero issues.

Do you think the Ultra model you linked to will come back in stock?

The popping issue made me really angry but has since gone away after some updates.
