My gamer irons are currently Mizuno MP-5's (low handicap muscleback irons), but I am looking for more forgiveness because I can't practice as much as I would like.

I have been looking for a good sale on Mizuno irons and these MP-54's stuck out because $336 is right around where they would sell used so a really good price for a new set.

I purchased my MP-5's from tee2green6931 and called Mizuno and verified that the serial #'s are authentic, so I'm not worried about the clubs being counterfeit.

Not that this is really a negative, but it is a 5 year old set.

In this style of iron, age really doesn't matter, other than meeting the groove requirements if you're playing competitively (which these do.)

Mark Crossfield loved them 5 years ago

Would these be good for someone who has a high handicap of 20? I'm looking for a new set to replace my set from 1999.

Yes, good set for that index... forgiving enough but still gives you room to grow.

tempting. I'm not good enough for my MP-14s anymore but this might be a little too CB for me. But damn that price....

The price seems pretty amazing for these if they are genuine. So tempting.

the 4-pw only has the KBS-C Taper X and the DGS 300 stiff remaining. The 3-pw has the Project X 5.5 and 6.0 remaining.

Are all these shafts stiff flex?

Stiff is dependent on what you are comparing to too. It's an over generalized term but for the sake of simplicity, 5.5 and 6.0 are stiff. 6.0 should play slightly stiffer than dynamic gold stiff and 5.5 will play slightly weaker than dynamic gold stiff. Now compare the 5.5 to a light weight stiff like XP95 and it will be significantly stiffer

How does this set compare with the JPX EZ Forged? I picked that set up last month for $315 (4-PW). Haven't yet had time to give them a spin on the range.

I have played both and the 54s are less forgiving, but in my opinion, one of the nicest looking mid cavity clubs ever made.

The JPX will have a larger profile, thicker topline, etc. It may be my imagination but when you pure it the 54s are much better feeling, not that I pured all that many when I had them!
