Yes everyone, save up a tremendous amount of money and VERY slowly get sets from SK or Wright. Make sure you go buy a set of sockets from SK or Wright for $145 instead of the ones from Harbor Freight for $13.99 that will do 95% of the work for 1/10th the price. While you're at it, go pick up a $90 Snap-On ratchet and a $45 Matco 3/8" extension just in case. Everyone needs so-called "professional" tools to change the spark plug on your lawnmower or change the alternator on your car. The "chinesium" tools just won't do.

Also, not saying that this would ever happen since these are SUPER TOUGH 'Murican made tools, but if your SK/Wright/Matco/Snap-On stuff were to break, it's got a LIFETIME WARRANTY!!! All you have to do is chase the tool truck down in your area, or find an authorized distributor to swap it out. Mine is only a 45 minute drive to Grainger, so it's super convenient. Sure, the Harbor Freight tools also have a lifetime warranty and can be turned in at the Harbor Freight store, but those are made from chinesium and will probably give your whole family cancer, turn you into a homosexual and also make you a communist.

This is the regular price. It was $85 for a minute, then $89 pretty consistently since.

I hear that's true. I'm looking now but I need to stop and look at the different models and see what's best for me. What I want is good socket coverage. Everything else is nonsense

Is this set better or worse than the one from Costco?

I have a box full of dewalt hand tools.. They are excellent for the price. Not as good as the truck brands, but way better then current crapsman tools.

Anyone got links to these 204 or 192 piece sets? Just curious on the difference. Is this a bad set? I need some good sockets and dewalt has a decent name.

If you're just starting out, you may want to consider one of Grey Pneumatic's $100 ish sets. Sometimes you'll find the 89653CRD for around $100, which is a great place to start. Lifetime warranty, durable, and well reputed.

Definitely won't beat a tool off of a truck at three times the cost, but better than the DEWALT/Craftman generics. Gearwrench also isn't bad, very good price, and also includes a lifetime warranty.

Frankly if you're going to go cheap, go whole hog and check out Harbor Fraight's sockets.

204 for $160: https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWM...B00GK8ULY6

192 for $179: https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWM...B01BHJE0J4

Keep in mind that, except for a handful of hex keys, those are mainly socket sets without any drivers or drive bits. So depending on what you are doing, you may need to carry a supplemental box or bag with the drivers that you will need to remove the various panels, covers, shields, guards, clips, clamps and what not that are so often encountered on modern vehicles.
