Pretty solid deal if you don't have to pay tax when buying from Newegg, but with the 6 core processors finally hitting mobile this week I'd bet this drops in price a bit more within a month or two.

YMMV, but I recently got this exact laptop at Costco for $900 plus tax. Exact spec too. This thing runs hot on stock thermal paste. If you're handy with computers, replace the paste with liquid metal thermal compound.

How long ago? I don't remember seeing it drop that low. Got me curious now.

It was about 3 weeks ago. I don't know why it was so cheap, but my local store had about 6-7 at the time and it originally caught my eyes because the box showed Strix sticker on the top. 1070 for $900 and Gsync. I had to pick one up.

I guess it was open box there is no other reason I see to sell it that low it would be like paying from their own pocket

It was sealed with Asus sticker. It appeared to be brand new too.
