With our first on the way, we were looking for deals on UPPA strollers, but they seem to be excluded off of most coupons.

The UPPA Mesa infant car seat is $299 (as it is everywhere), but qualifies for $60 in bonus rewards upon shipping at AlbeeBaby:
Jake (black): https://www.albeebaby.com/uppabab...black.html
Pascal (grey): https://www.albeebaby.com/uppabab...-grey.html

Free shipping and no tax outside of NY. AlbeeBaby was great at posting the bonus rewards as soon as it shipped to me.
I then redeemed the $60 in rewards towards the stroller in a separate purchase, since they are clearancing out their 2017 models for up to 20% off: https://www.albeebaby.com/uppababy-sale.html

The Dennison (red/silver) was the cheapest VISTA at $672:

A matching grey Pascal would be $704:
https://www.albeebaby.com/uppabab...arbon.html

If you're interested in the CRUZ, they are as low as $440 in green:
https://www.albeebaby.com/uppabab...ather.html

I didn't care about colors, so I got the Dennison VISTA. $911 total, shipped to CA.

I also saw they had a code for 20% off (APR20), but it doesn't apply to UPPA. If you just want the car seat, get it for the bonus and use it with the coupon code to get something else!

This pairs well with the Target clearance clothing deal. A grand on a stroller and a buck on clothes.

Or pay hundreds less and get a chicco car seat which ranks higher in crash test ratings and only slightly lower in quality and ease of use. Pair it with a BOB stroller which is less than 1/2 the price and rated equally or better than both strollers. Done.

The wife and I use the Mesa and the Cruz. Baby #2 is on the way and the pieces are still in awesome shape and will be used for the new baby. I'm fine spending good money on these things since they'll last for many years and children.

Not really. Every car seat or travel system expires. Plastic degrades and weakens. I think 5 years is the longest they are recommended. So figure two kids, maybe three if you rush. This is over priced junk

You can get a car from an auction for this much. It'll probably break down on your way home but you'll probably get more out of your money from it

That may be the case for the car seat, but I think everyone's beef here is with the stroller due to its price. I'll use this stroller until its no longer needed and then it will still have resale value.

The car seat is not super expensive and is a quality piece that will last many years. More years than I expect to have children needing to use it, that's for sure!

Why do people automatically assume that if a thing costs more it must be better. A friend of mine wouldn't buy any tv other than Sony. I can tell you that my 1000$ tcl p series has a far superior picture quality than his Sony that cost him 800 more

The only value it has is what people believe. If you're the type to spend almost a grand on a stroller, are you going to look at second hand markets? No. You're going to tell yourself to spare no expense and buy it new. I would not expect to be able to resell it and recoup any value.

Not trying to bash or argue, it's your money. Just trying to share perspective after having a few kids about what is really worth spending money on vs what is semi-predatory marketing on one of the most vulnerable demographics.

By the same logic your car itself expires after the same period. Since the seats in your car use the same type of plastic as an infant car seat and plastic makes up its core superstructure (with supporting metal rods, just like an infant car seat). The expiration dates didn't even exist until about fifteen years ago, where they started out at ten-fifteen years and then all raced down to as low as they could justify (2-3 years) which is where we're at today. We're just meant to ignore all the other plastic containing products we depend on to keep us safe in all other aspects of our lives.

If the car dash cracks it's a bit less catastrophic than a car seat.
