It would be nice if the OP provided the in store SKU or a receipt or something. It appears this is what the OP got:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/ecobe.../206303211

The in store SKU is 1001487543 and UPC is 627988301020. It looks like its clearance at most stores. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $50 for this. A year ago I got a smart thermostat for $20 and it works fine.

If all you need is remote changing of temp that's fine, if you want multi room sensors and smart capabilities then ecobee is great.

I installed these last year, and the multi-room sensor feature is fantastic. What seriously impressed me is how their iPhone app mimics the actual thermostat almost 100%. That's some serious effort for their UI.

Yeah, I have a vent setup in my computer room set to close automatically when the heater turns on so the room remains cool. Let me see that guy do that with his $20 Wi-Fi thermostat

Sorry. Was at hd getting paint and saw it. Never posted before and tried to figure out how to take a picture and post on sd but couldn't. Even downloaded app to see if that worked.

I don't know if that is the same product. The sticker and the flyer on the clearance section said it's originally $249.
