when I see kona blend I immediately pass... a few kona beans (expensive), blended with the cheapest beans they can find... no thanks.

Never buy coffee that does not have a "roasted on" date printed on the package. Typically you want your beans roasted within a month of use. Buy coffee beans and a decent grinder and you will have better coffee even if you use a shitty drip coffee maker like a Mr. Coffee. You want good coffee use a pour over cup. You want great coffee use a perculator like your grandparents use to use.
