with the new models coming soon, is $600 a slick enough deal for a generally regarded "good enough" TV?
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...-2017-s405
**I think the difference here is only the remote; 403 vs. 405?
I would love to go a size up and don't want to spend too much but don't want a crappy TV
for a lot of people, this set is probably good for a secondary setup somewhere in the house. it would be primarily used for movies and gaming (PS4Pro/X1X)

I think this one doesn't have the private listening for the remote. Just FYI.
I had to go with Amzn version and that feature is really good. I'm told the ROKU app
on phone can get you that private listening but unsure. Excellent TV. I have P series.

Here's a review on the S403 from Tom's Guide:

CNET S405
https://www.cnet.com/products/tcl...tv/review/

(Which as before mentioned the only difference being the remote)

The 65" model 6 series and the new 5 Series come in less than a month........best to wait as the 2017 model prices are going to be lower.

The new 5 series which is replacing the S series is inherently superior (They basically turned the 2017 P series into the new 5 series).

ANY Roku stick and/or Roku TV can use private listening mode via the phone app. Bluetooth or wired connection works with no issue at all. It is a fantastic feature.

I have the enhanced remote and never use it for that....the phone is much more convenient.

The roku app with this TV works fine with private listening. It's a bit better in the way that I can use bluetooth headphones with the phone so no wire dangling. Also if your TV is far away from your dinner table like mine is, i just turn on the app and do private listening through the phone speakers and I can hear it without having to blast the soundbar through out the living room and kitchen.

I got this TV this past Black Friday from Target. This is great TV for the price. The BF price was only $5 cheaper so this is a pretty good deal .

Hdr10 is listed. It's just not advertised well in the Costco website

Should I cancel my 65" Vizio M65-E0 for this? I paid $700+tax and all my household uses is Chromecast so not sure we would use the Roku built into this TV.

No, absolutely not. The M series is a much, much better TV. It's well worth the extra money.

Need 75"+ to be at this price.. Maybe in a year.. My old 73" DLP is still working fine. One can never go smaller IMHO.
