I was tempted unil I saw the negative reviews on Amazon. Also, it's from a 3rd party instead of Newegg directly. I think I'll just wait for Sony to release their $430 unit in a week. It's got capacitive touch and Android car play.

EDIT: I caved and ordered it. The Sony XAV-AX5000 doesn't have HD radio, which was one of the biggest reasons for me upgrading from a basic double din pioneer. I hope the reviews were pre august 2017, which was the last firmware update for the 8200 and 8201.

Also, the 3rd party seller offers returns within 30 days with no restocking fee. So we will see.

Thanks for posting this deal.

i got this on the last deal. kinda wierd, in that it was at this price for a limited time, then it was extended a week, and now, about a month later, it is on sale again. i got the install harness/faceplate from crutchfield, a great company. they helped out a lot. beware that the pioneer avicsync has really poor ratings. the main reason i got this is that i wanted an in dash nav system. i have a garmin, and up on the dash, it restricted view(2016 hyundai elantra). and whomever designed the aftermarket faceplate needs to have his butt kicked. i had to modify it to get it to fit, and even then, the back of the radio is smack dab up against the defrost duct. pioneer recommends a space from the back of the unit to whatever a couple of centimeters for heat. the nav screen is not bright enough. i have it set on manual to get it the brightest. the garmin beats it hands down. i cannot get the steering wheel controls to work with the aftermarket harness, the first one had a dead module controller, and this one passes all the tests, but dont work. i dont use the wheel controls anyway. the install instructions are a bit whacky, and here crutchfield really shined. they helped out a lot. androidauto will only work with a usb cable. there are 2 usb ports, one is for apple, the other for android. the android uses google maps, and the screen is smaller because of the tool bars, so i use the pioneer nav screen. the only problem there is that to get the full effect, some subscription services have to be bought. these services are not charged for on androidauto, which appears to be superior to avicsync. one thing for sure, this radio is a helluva lot smarter than i am

Just a heads up, Drive in Autosound is an authorized Pioneer online seller. Still full Pioneer warranty and eligible for any mail in rebates.

There's only like two head units on the market that do AndroidAuto or CarPlay wirelessly. You've gotta plug in a USB cable for the vast majority. And the steering wheel control issue is not Pioneer's fault. Bad install part or bad install. Those are the only two possibilities with that. And no, the built in Pioneer navi doesn't give you real-time traffic, construction, road closures, etc. It's just using maps from memory. You've got to have some streaming data for updates like that. That's why you get all that with AndroidAuto/your cell phone. Cell phone has data.

Ive been waiting for months but no new status change. Likely wont be next week unless I missed an announcement.

I have the AVH-2300 NEX from the Abt deal. Honestly, if the HU has Android Auto, I dont see paying more for a built-in Nav system. Android Auto now as Waze along with Map. It is superior to any built-in Nav App and it is up-to-date all the time. No need to update any map. I would save $ and get the HU without built-in Nav App.

Better off going with an Xtrons 32gb/4gb/8core or Pumpkin 32gb/2gb/8core head unit that's running AndroidOS for $300 or less on Amazon Prime. Did that in my truck and will never go back to non-AndroidOS head units.

I take it you have to run a WiFi hotspot on your phone all the time and US based hd radio is not available. I do still have the 30 day return window, and that xtron looks pretty crazy for $290.

EDIT: Yuck. People complain about credit card fraud from someone in China soon after installing one of the pumpkin units

How is the Navigation on this compared to the Kenwood systems that use Garmin?

I'm also curious. Do you know what kind of navigation that is integrated in this unit?

Mind giving us a little more personal feedback and detail on these headunits? You've really peaked my interest.

I ordered a few of the pumpkin units on Amazon to play around with after I bought my 8200. The interface is laid out like an Android tablet you can use basic things like audio video input amplifier radio and Bluetooth streaming. The downside to these units is to use apps like Pandora Spotify anything where you have to access the internet you will need a mobile hotspot in your car. If you have unlimited hotspot capability on your phone I would definitely look into getting one of those you would be much happier. I was very disappointed with Android auto and the menu functions for music apps so I just use Bluetooth streaming on mine
