1. yes it can work with any other router.
2. it has its own controller interface, that had to be installed in a different device. Typically ppl install it in a VM on the cloud or their PC,
or you can get a "cloudkey" which is a $70 device that runs the controller software.
Once it's all setup, you don't need to keep the controller software running 24x7, you only need it if you'd like some stats.
3. not sure, it prob should work since this is semi Enterprise grade.

Questions from noob home network admin Wink

1) Can this work with non Ubiquiti routers?
2) If yes to #1 does it use it's own controller software?
3) Can this work in an unconditioned garage - ie no insulation or HVAC available but enclose space.

Will these make any sort of mesh network or just like access points that require the phone /wifi device to device which to connect to?

Having problems getting my tmobile Asus router working with aimesh (worked with issues, then installed update and won't connect), and looking to make a mesh network for my house.

Wow thanks for all the on target answers AND the bonus one I didn't put down earlier regarding the cloud key!

B&H Photo wouldn't price match. But good price even with tax in CA.

Want 2 or 3 of these, but I'm still worried about Newegg's inventory of older models. I've got a newer 802.3af 8-port Unify switch and it seems to be a gamble if you're getting a box marked as compliant or an older model.

This will not send to a 3rd router, but will relay as a 2nd router. I might be wrong, but i think that requires that the 1st router is also ubiqiti.

the UAP-AC-M-US will do multiple hops, and is on sale for $81. It is also allowed for outdoor.

I set mine up at work on a VM.
At home I just used the iOS app and never touched my htpc to get it all set up. No complaints at either location and both are Rock solid.

I bought from new egg and amazon last fall. I got old stock from newegg and current from amazon. I will say that I have the 16 port unifi poe switch and was able to switch the power type, to 24 V. The performance is the same regardless of power.

They will work if you have a switch that can power them.

Ai Mesh with tmobile routers is not a thing any longer unfortunately. The latest updates by Asus disabled that functionality so unless your using older beta firmware it will not work.

Yes using these AP's is almost completely identical to a mesh network.
