I read somewhere that the darker the roast, the lower the caffeine.

You are correct, the longer roasting time to create darker coffee actually 'kills' the caffeine in the coffee. However it's usually not by a noticeable amount to the average person

All I know is that in my experience, the darker the roast, the more disgusting the flavor and bitter the after taste 😂

If you can stand the flavor of Maxwell House. It comes through strong in cold brew. If you sweeten it you can mask it but Maxwell House is unmistakably nutty and earthy.
I live with it because it saves money, since cold brew uses a lot of coffee. Other than that it works fine. It makes super strong cold brew because of the grind, roast and bean selection. Maxwell uses some robusto so it has a higher caffeine content.

I prefer a dark roast which I'll drink more of negating any caffeine loss 😆
