FYI, there is another ADATA drive with 512 GB for $102 at Rakuten, however it is the SU800 whereas this is the SU650. (https://www.rakuten.com/shop/adat...XZEALw_wcB)

The SU800 has faster manufacturer reported read and write speeds than the 650 (560/520MB/s vs 520/450 MB/s), plus the 800 has 32 GB of extra storage. I'll leave you to decide whether the extra storage/speed is worth the extra money.

I never bother with mounting them inside my case. They just are connected and are kinda loose on the bottom. Does not affect anything.

Agreed. DDR4 is still stupid expensive.

Trying to return mine, it failed after 3 weeks. Was using it as a Nas ssd cache drive.

Newegg reviews are much better than those posted on Rakuten.

Can this be used in a desktop? I always thought 2.5" is suitable for laptops only.

You can get a 2.5" to 3.5" tray adapter to make it work in the desktop. Something like this Corsair SSD Mounting Bracket Kit 2.5" to 3.5" drive bay(CSSD-BRKT1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0090UG...0AbHDGZYAC

I have never seen 3.5" SSDs. Do they always require a tray adapter for desktops?

Yes, unless your case supports 2.5" drives. Newer cases often have spots for mounting SSDs but older ones do not. The mounting bracket is $7-10 so it's a no brainier.
